So what's the difference between film script polishing and film script doctoring?

 

Script doctoring goes deeper than script polishing. Script doctoring starts from the concept, and works its way up through screenplay plot to script structure and narrative.

 

In my experience, the problems with scripts often go deep - deeper than the screenwriter or script developer are aware of. Deep script doctoring will therefore be needed. Often a lot. Why? Subjectivity. What's needed is objectivity. Honesty. A fresh pair of eyes. Mine.
